Help please with my last two in:

21a "Prisoner, not "caught" in a manner of speaking, in nick" (9)

C?N?I?I?N. With these letters Quick Solve only gives CONCISION and CONDITION, neither of which seem to fit.

36a "Implying only one gender counts, consciousness-wise?" (8)

CONDITION works with the wordplay: con + diction - c

I don’t understand the letters you give underneath, but the wordplay for 36a would suggest Men-tally as the answer

Thank you quisling; you're quite right, I'd wrongly put 26d as one on one rather than one by one so mentally fits.
