18d Dread gathering round perhaps two or twelve answers here. Ans Footwear. I can see Fear and an anagram of two but where does the extra o come from and how does "or twelve answers here" work, please?

does the 'twelve' in 18d refer to clue 12 in the puzzle?

Ah you've cracked it -the answer to 12a was Weliington . Never thought of it referring to clue 12.

Forget my nonsensical answer -that wasn't 12a at all. There are answers which are footwear. Never noticed!
