Host = MC around/assumed I then anagram/broadcast of RECORD IT - definition 'what helps small company'.

Usually there's a clear explanation of all clues, but I cannot see this one:-
5 Across - "Understanding silly mix-up about hubby on vacation"
The answer appears to be SYMPATHY, but apart from "understanding"
I can't see the rest of it.

Apply “on vacation” to all the words that precede it.

Thanks, Jono - that's very sneaky! I saw that "silly" begun and ended with "SY" but I didn't carry the process right through!

25a (Need help with parsing.)
Aware of work to finish trapping flock of pheasants. O*E* - E*E*
I have open-eyed.
I see open-eyed as aware: OP as work: END as finish: which leaves EYE trapped. But I read that NYE is the word for a flock of pheasants. Where am I going wrong, please?

Chambers gives Eye as 'a brood of pheasants'
