?R? - F?R??

21a "From a piece of furniture, article's removed " (2,2)

?S ?F. looks like AS IF but if so don't see the parsing

Any help much appreciated

Spot on, Jafo.

42d Art Forms. It’s a bit opaque. “Art for” is an archaic representation of the second person “thou art for”, I.e. you are in favour”, though I don’t like the you being omitted. MS is writing (manuscript) and music, sculpture etc are the definition

21a As Of. A sofa minus the indefinite article. It means from (a particular time)

Thanks jafo and quisling.

That leaves me with just one to check:

9d "Seek new unusual lines for organ part" (4-5)

K?E? S?E?L as an anagram of seek new I'm assuming it's KEEN-SWELL for part of an organ rather than KNEE-SWELL !?

Knee Swell, also known as Knee Stop, is in Chambers. It's a lever worked by the organist.

It’s KNEE-SWELL. Some organ require the player to operate the bellows with their feet, so swell is controlled by a spring-loaded lever next the the players knee. Not easy to use!

42d I thought "as we used to say, you" = art. "Favour" = for. "Writing" = ms.
