Yes, elect is right. President-elect for example is a a person who has been elected president but has not yet taken up office.

Anyone else puzzled by “Sea snail”? Can’t find anything anywhere to suggest that it’s a spiny fish. A fish yes, but not spiny.

Timdownieuk, I think Collins is a dictionary used by the Times - and the definition there for 'seas snail' is 'any small spiny-finned fish of the family Liparidae...'

The same definition in the Concise Oxford Dictionary for Sea Snail as a slimy fish with a ventral sucker , but it can also be a mollusc with a shell
