Hi all.

Did it baffle earliest group of astronomers? = -T-R. I'm guessing 'star' and something to do with the wise men. Not sure about baffle though. I need some light to be shed...

Weapon chucker on alert following disorder = rocket launcher. Looks like an anagram involving 'on alert' but I can't work in the 'disorder' reference.

The earliest group of astronomers is the letters 'astr' baffled (i.e. anag) to make star.

earliest group of astronomers - seems to refer to the 1st 4 letters of "astronomers".

Thanks all. I was thinking rocket/weapon, launcher/chucker. Which I did think odd. Shoulda cogitated a tad longer but I wanted to go and watch last nights Spooks...
