Just out of interest. What is the thinking behind this particular rule?

Oh dear ...... what a fuss. The closing date for the Quiz is 30th. April 2022. Just for the record ...... I was not laughing at the rules, just the fact that somebody thought my omission bad enough to mention it.

Yes I did because the posting guidelines keep being bumped and either posters should stick to them or there is no point in having them

Itsme, thank you for the closing date, I have included it in your first post.

Tatters, that particular rule is there so that I keep track of what is happening on the Forum. By their nature daily\weekly crosswords don't need closing dates but those for Quizzes could be several weeks away.

Keenquizzer and Jazzgirl, thank you for your input.

I still don't get it. The closing date may be soon, far distant, already gone or even non-existent but the question and answer are the same in all four cases.

Incidentally, Quizzer49 posted an American cities quiz ten days ago without a closing date and that doesn't appear to have caused too much chaos.

Hi itsme, this is the closest synonym I could come up with but I'm far from convinced it's what's intended (The) Mavericks.

@ tatters, I hope this doesn't "obscure" your last post.

I found this online definition which "kind of" supports

Mavericks are visionaries who want to achieve what's never been achieved before. They're not fans of the status quo and will shake things up. Mavericks tend to be innovative, influential, daring, and direct—with a remarkably high tolerance for taking chances.
