Is 20a not a bit dodgy ?

Chrise - apparently there is some old horse that had the same name as a famous ballet dancer - it was news to me!

I get 7D now but 18D is still a puzzle. I have D?A?/B?Y. I can parse a possible solution from “ suffused with bad smell: steady on! “ but how can it mean “covered in hair” which I have assumed is the definition.

Thanks, Ianwil. Yes, I had a type of jacket as the second word in 20A which seemed just about ok and that supplied the A. Back to the drawing board!

I found this straight forward but enjoyable. Nice to finish it over my Sunday morning coffee rather than with my Saturday evening gin aka yesterday’s prize! FOI 1d, LOI 20 (though that may be because I am in denial of that sport after recent events). My CODs are 7 and 14 as I rather like a convoluted wordplay.
