I emailed you saying I had deleted your thread because you had been on the Forum long enough to know that you should post in an existing thread if one exists on the first page.

You were well aware of what you were doing because you made a disparaging remark in your thread about this being a duplicate post.

Please repost your query in the existing Times 28,182 which is part way down the first page.

Dear Norah, I almost typed Dearest Norah !
This brou-ha-ha is quite out of proportion considering the minute nature of the alledged misdemeaner . BTW I do not use email but other family members do - they are both puzzled and amused.
Considering the strength of your warnings and threats you ( and all my friends I have met over the years ) will surely understand my decision to resign immediately from the Forum ( with huge regret
I hope you will be fair enough not to delete this post - we will let other posters make their own assessment

Penda, sorry to see you go - but also sorry to see that you think adding a Sunday Times clue to an existing Sunday Times thread is a bit too much to ask! If every query, every thread, related to one single clue, the front page/opening of the Forum would be extremely tedious.

Those two puzzles could take up the whole front page - with Private Eye, Inquisitor, Listener... being bumped further and further down.

As a Times solver, I like seeing the Times threads - and there's often a bit of discussion, conversarion, too. If we did it the Penda way, I'd be leaping all over the place to see if anything interesting had been said.

There is no need for you to resign, Penda, my email might have been a bit strong but it was past my bedtime and I was tired.

I felt you were making fun on me in the comments about duplicate threads which I thought was unfair when all I am trying to do is run the Forum for the benefit of the majority of Users.

Thanks for your kind words about it being a work of dedication, it is as I’m on duty from the moment I get up to when I go to bed.😅

Thanks Malone, very well said. Your post clearly illustrates the reasons why I instigated the policy of ‘one thread per crossword on the first page’ .

After initial teething problems, it settled down very nicely and I think the majority of our Users appreciate the neatness and clarity of the first page.

Hi all. Yes - I have reconsidered and YES I want to stay . Many posters have struck up chat over the years - I feel I know them well. And YES I now understand DUPLICATE THREADS!!!! so will assiduously follow the rule YES I have seen the light. Thank you all for your kind words

The worst case of duplicate threads that I can remember was a couple of years or so ago, when there were 16 separate threads on the same Times puzzle!
