2 Your L seems wrong - I think the answer is the velvety, furry leather. which also sounds like 'influenced'.

JohnT, I don’t understand the heading of this thread. I cannot see a puzzle in the Radio Times which matches these clues. Can you explain please.

Thank you both, especially for clearly hinting at 2 down without spelling it out. Clearly I had incorrect solutions to adjacent clues; come to think of it, I was not 100% happy with either of them. I may be back.

Norah, admin: sorry, I got the date wrong. It is on page 147 of the edition of Radio Times which covers programmes 1-7 Jan 2022. Because I started solving it on Christmas Day I assumed it covered the programmes for the week we are in, i.e. 25-31 December 21. We have a subscription and clearly received it early. I have little interest in the TV programmes themselves, just happened to randomly pick it up and tackle the crossword, which is referred to as Prize Crossword 1. I hope that clarifies things, sorry to confuse.
