I've just realised that my answer doesn't really work with any of the senses. Sorry!

It relates to taste but, strictly speaking, the mag was plural. (The FT said it was the forerunner of the modern popular press/tabloid.......dammit!).

Thanks, Granama1. I think I am too young to have seen much of the magazine - I remember, vaguely, that one of my relatives got it!

Titbits and the link to 'taste' seems a little bit tenuous....

I was going to suggest 'relish' but it appears that Relish magazine is still in print (in the USA). My mum's friend used to get Tit-bits but it wasn't regarded as suitable for us youngsters.
