13 was a tough one. I'm perfectly familiar with the 2-word expression "on [13]s", but had never encountered the singular form and didn't even know what it meant!

Holy Mackrel!

I'm finding this tough but really enjoyable. I only really have NE filled in. I will probably be back but right now I need to know if 5d is a mathematical term. Because I can't parse it all that well and I have no idea about 20a.

Thanks Brendan.

Then I cannot find a word to fit 20a. I shall plough on but will be back.

Re 20a - the “as” must also be included the definition

Oh Brendan

Many thanks for your hints. I'll go away and think about them. Thanks to you and Geeker, I've got 13d. Living in Exeter, where the wool trade was prevalent in the middle ages, I've come across the term before, though I agree it is usually used in the plural - even in the wool trade. It also confirms one of my letters for 15ac - so maybe I've got that right.

I finished this, after help from this forum, a couple of hours ago, but I only just worked out the parsing of 4d. The "recurring" means that the answer is an anagram that appears twice in the clue. I am guessing this was obvious to the real experts but I had never seen it before. Perhaps it's meant as a complement (compliment) to the double pangram.

Hi Rainman,

I thought 4d was very clever and my COD, but it took a fair while before I twigged the exact parsing:-)

Thanks, rainman. I had parsed 4 as a single anagram and didn't understand "recurring" in the wordplay. Well done by both you and Brendan (setter)!
