I guess it's about time I invested in a dictionary! Is the 13th edition of Chambers the latest?

Spike, yes the Revised 13th Edition is the latest. A while back I emailed Chambers to ask when the 14th edition might be coming and they replied saying it was “planned for 2022”

Well done, mattrom. Thanks peterm for hosting a fun challenge. I loved lots of the clues - it’s amazing how much fun you can have with red wine … or so my wife says anyway.

Nice one as usual mattrom. Chambers gives UP as "in an excited state" which makes it a perfect anagrind (also it's used in published puzzles A LOT). Thanks for hosting and the mention peter.

Thank you, Peterm, for your choice, and a fruitful challenge. I enjoyed the clips - a new meaning to "drink like a fish". As we produce many good reds in AU, I'll chose to listen to the 1990's advice.

Since I installed the Chambers app on my PC, I've rarely picked up the big red book. Oddly, the Chambers website only mentions the app for mobiles, but the others are available from the Microsoft or Pcmac stores,
at (I think) a reasonable price.
