I have c. n. c. Answer is conic. I see cryptic part, but definition. 'like. A party hat' will not do. Any help appreciated.

Re 20, that’s the way I saw it, although “conical” would be the better term.

I don’t see the parsing of 24d or 25a. For 24 I see is AHA, but what about the B? For 25 I have a philosopher, but can’t parse.

Just got 24. I see is just AH so Jack can be AB. Still not seeing 25.

I guess I should post the clue as not everyone works the Times. I know Jono, for one, doesn’t.
