All done and parsed, which doesn't happen that often. Held up by never having heard of either of the meanings in 10a

COD 3d for the chuckle.

My fault, for not reading the clue correctly.
The usual phrase has a "maybe" in it.

One of the rare occasions when I managed to finish the crossword without looking for help in the forum. Enjoyable puzzle, maybe time for a bit of 10ac!

I wish I could say the same

Butafter my initial read through a couple of hours ago after lunch, I'd only got two.

But to be fair, my mind wasn't on it. Today is autumn greenhouse day! This involves taking everything out and sweeping it out before installing bubble wrap as an insulator. Then searching in vain for the greenhouse heater. We can't find it! On top of that my back is giving me gyp, which seems to affect my brain.

Now for my second go at the clues. I shall be back once I've got a few more. I already know I'm not going to be able to solve 10ac.

All done I think, after changing my answer to 10A after reading this thread.

Not sure about my answers to 15D, 23D and 26A although for 26A google shows up a song connection to "sea" which I've not heard of but that is all.

For 15D I have an opera script and 23D I have something musical notes are written on but I can't see a fish connection.

I can parse 15D now so it is correct. Still unsure about 23D and 26A, they look correct though.

Ok so I had the wrong answer for 23D, cheers.

I thought "essentially" was the indicator for E in 26A for some reason.

All done I think then.

I still can't parse 10A despite having changed it ;) Originally I had a wrong spelling of something that isn't usually chocolate which I blame on listening to the Everton match on the radio - bad result though :(

I also can't parse 2D.

I hadn't heard of 24A before and I really should have known that having spent nearly 2 years writing a computer game about the excitement of mowing lawns, lol. Those aren't included in it though.

Ok so I googled 10A and it is a type of chocolatey cake thing as well.
