Stuck with another. This time 10 across, 5 letters. Clue is :- loblolly with 9. s????.

Last letter would be m if memo is correct, or possibly an x.

The clue loblolly with 9 doesn't make sense on the face of it. Does clue 9, or the answer help?

Without any further info the only suggestion I have is SPINE as the loblolly is a pine tree but this doesn't fit in with your M or X ???

could it be SALIX. Loblolly is a tree that grows in swamps in southern usa. Salix is another name for Willow which also grows in wetlands.

To keep the tree thing going. SAL is also a tree, common in southern asia.

Yes, Salix looks good to me and it includes the 9!. SAL(IX).
