40. Cut - harvest, Capers - green buds (those little pellety things, used in tartare sauce, I think).

48 Araneid, spider.

A, article
Ran, scuttled
Die - end (up = reverse/upwards,so Eid)

You’re most welcome, Malone. It’s pretty convoluted, for sure. I was unsure what the over” was doing in the clue, but I see in the paper it was actually “cover”, which makes more sense

E?I?T assuming it's EXIST for live but not sure of the parsing

Wasn't it 'goes out'? That makes it Exits, goes out, gets the last two letters swapped round, c change to the final ordering, and becomes Exist, live.
