@Geeker - sorry to hear that. Is it local or widespread? Where are you located?

Paul,
Rural area in Upstate NY. Only 36 households affected, so not a priority for the utility company (of which I don't have a high opinion). About 20 hr. outage so far, hoping for restoration soon, "They're working on it."

@Geeker; well best of luck with that. Hope weather’s not too challenging.
BTW you’re not a million miles from Aristo who I believe is in RI.

With one more vote to come in there are two clues out in front with just one vote between them, so I’ll give it another 30 mins.

Well I’ll call time there. Jimmy hasn’t voted but he did tell us he wasn’t well last week so I hope he’s doing ok.
Many thanks to all those who took part this week, some very nice touches.
Paul@8, Geeker@19, Tyke@25, Mattrom@6 and @35 all received one vote.
In second place with two votes is Mathprof@17.
But first with 3 votes is Geeker@20.

Gorse, cropped and cooked, another thorny bush (4)

Congratulations Geeker, your first win I think! Hope you get your internet issues fixed in time for the Guardian Prize in a few hours.

Congrats geeker andt hanks jono.

The historical prize misses out that Edward IV was almost certainly not the son of Ricahrd of York - he was abroad when Edward was conceived,

I may very well be descended from Edward 1V through an illegitimate child. But I don't think that's anything to be proud of. He seems to have been a rather/very unpleasant man.
