In response to Granama’s comment on Listener thread!
Yes, filling in grid pretty quickly, but often using definitions only, without parsing. I’m sure penny will drop soon.
Hope you cracked it. Don’t tell me. Yet.
(Trying to pretend Listener never happened this week, but still sneaking a peek every now and again!)

Hi Lumen! I left it with a full grid and have been battling with The Listener so I can't even contemplate any spoilers (:o)
I'll probably pick it up again this evening. (But probably won't pick up The Listener....unless it's on the way to the recycle bin!

I have the three categories now I think. Stuck with a few at top right, including the Grandma clue! And a tip for 9d would be great.

Hi Lumen,

9d - 4 letter "cuts" followed by anagram/"in pain" of "died" - definition is "weighted towards the left maybe".

Thanks Lumen,

I've got a full grid but am only certain of one of the groups so can't be sure they're all correct. This IQ, along with the current Listener, is one that I will have to leave and keep coming back to - fresh eyes and all that. In the interim I've started the EV - but that's another with no clue numbers ....

😂

I'm done now really. Full grid.Have quote etc and how that dictates the two groups.
Can't see last couple in one group, that's all.
Back to gloomy old gallery etc..

Does anyone agree that there is another answer to 25 Down, which better fits the cryptic? This threw me for a while.

The IQ seems like ancient history for me after the small matter of this week's Listener intervened! I don't recall an alternative answer for 25, but did get held up for a while as I assumed the T was part of the "shut up" for quite some time.

I'd be very glad of a nudge with 14a - which I assume is a themed clue.
I have the grid entry from the wordplay, but can't work out the short word.
