Can anyone help me with parsing 4 across please?
Sparkling characters spaced out in large bed (8)
I get that the answer is AGLITTER (sparkling) but cannot see how it works.

It's the odd characters of LARGE (AG) + LITTER for bed.

Ah yes, that must be it - thanks! The unusual indicator for the alternate letters in large foxed me. And I only dimly connected litter with bed…

I meant EVEN characters of LARGE and not odd ones.

14a "From the back of the drawer, certain scraping out". (14)

I've got ERASURE and can see the back of the drawer (ER) and certain (SURE). I'm struggling to see the extra "A". Is there an archaic word "asure" meaning "to be sure"? I cannot find any reference to such so I'm probably looking at it the wrong way.
Any suggestions?

That one puzzled me, zinc. Still don't see the wordplay for A, but the solution is surely correct. BRB confirms the definition.
