Thanks to the small but prolific group who tackled this week's word.
I chose a word with few synonyms in Chambers, but many in common use in the English, Scots and American language. I hadn't previously realised it could be a noun as well as a verb.
Touches I liked included: jono's 'mischievous goddess', the prof's 'gym rat', aristo's homework-shirking 'weasel', FJ's exploding teardrop, paul's 'chatterbox' (which stumped me), BBM2's 'lousy accounts', buddy's 'Belgian waffle' – especially the use of 'bits of Belgian' as treatment for the subtracted fodder.
Liked the 'pater' clues from mprs 3, FJ 24, paul 20, and the 'rabbits' from jono 9, busby 23.
My final list included mprs 3, 26&45, jono 9, buddy 11, paul 18, paulh 40.
This week's winner, however, is FJ #8, with his neat composite
Mindless chatter from idiot given ecstasy
Well done, FJ! I confess I was hard pressed to find a prize relating to 'prate', so I've fallen back on this:
