A couple I have problems parsing:

6a Possible description of home in homage, a redeeming feature (6,6)

Looks like silver lining, but why?

17a Initial figure reduced by half for attractive instrument (4)

Certainly looks like LUTE (I have L-T-) Could be half of absolute, but why 'attractive'?

Any help gratefully recieved.

Ag is the chemical symbol for silver, "lining" home

A Lute is indeed attractive, described as beautiful /elaborate
