Have a look at the link I've posted at the end of the WPR thread!

Cheers Chrise - I know Skipton but haven`t visited since the statue of Fred was erected - a fitting tribute by the look of it. I was born about a mile away from where Fred was born in Stainton, Scotch Springs, in the south of the County, which then was in the old West Riding. We moved to Doncaster when I was 2, but my birth certificate says I was born in Rotherham - our arch footballing rivals!

Thought we might escape with a draw in the Test but fair play to India, they should have won at Trent Bridge.

Hi tyke
I think that when he retired, Fred lived in Flasby, a village just north of Skipton.

Hard not to like North Yorkshire - I`m finally going to see some Cricket after four cancelled trips due to Covid - we play Somerset at Scarborough in a 4-day game in Sept.

Yes disappointing end to the test, thought we might hang on but India bowlers are superb.

Chris, Tyke, Grunger.

Seeing this thread reminded me of the Cafe gossip thread which ran for some time but then fizzled out.

Do you want me to create a new Cafe where you can gossip about cricket, football, F1 to your heart’s content.

Ladies you can join in with the sport discussions or talk about knitting, crochet, anything you wish. The men can join in as well, after all Tom Daley knitted a lovely Olympic cardigan.

PS Chris, when you saw I’d posted, I’m betting you thought I was telling you off for creating this thread, ha, ha. Well I’m not!!

Hi Norah

Good idea to bring back the Cafe thread for general discussion/comments etc - perhaps leaving the PU thread for non-personal comments? Thanks for keeping us all in order.

Grunger

I`m impressed with India, they don`t seem to have many weaknesses and can `chirp` as well - we need to find some proper `Test` batsmen quickly!

Yes I did, norah!

Maybe we could just bump the old Cafe, thread - or did it become too big?

Tyke,

You say 'perhaps leaving the PU thread for non personal comments'. I thought the PU thread was originally set up to discuss bad grammar\bad English, it was never intended as a chat thread.

If we had a Cafe, then surely that would be the correct place for all comments, both general and non personal, and the PU could revert back to the purpose for which it was originally set up.

Chris, ha, ha.

I've just checked back, I ditched the old Cafe because it became too unwieldy and set up a new one in 2020. I could start a new one though now.

Tyke, Chris, Grunger

Talking about being unwieldy, do you want to start a new PU thread as that seems to be very long, it has 250 pages. Or do you prefer to keep the current thread so you can check back on things?

Norah,
By `non personal comments` I meant PU should revert to its original purpose, so we agree! Rossim came up with the title and I`m sure people are fed up with seeing my name on it so I, for one, will be pleased if you start a new PU thread.
