I've wrestled with this nearly all day but the top left-hand corner is baffling me.

If some kind person could supply the answer to the clue below it may, just, kick-start me.

Thank you - this seems to fit the clue. I had to look it up in the COD which helpfully explained it as a shrub bearing clusters of fruit. It was very silent as to what sort of fruit, though. Bananas? Tomatoes? Who knows. I've never eaten a "sumac" as far as I'm aware!

I hope that, inspired by this I can now wrestle onwards.

L-R E- It would appear that LARDER is the answer.
45 Down - "Parent, one having recourse to, e.g., speed gun (6)

24 A Larder is someone who'd lard, add embellishment, as well as a food store.

45 Mauser, gun - Ma and User?

Am trying to do my self-assessment and therefore need lots of built-in rewards after each task accomplished. Nibbling on my Times Jumbo Crossword 1510 - I compare it to a dog bone - should do it.

Is write 'pen'?
Think it is the name of a novel and probably ends in a D.

Also stuck on 50 across (5,8). The clue is: Clowning around, I twice do superman routine. Here's what I have so far:
