Two I don’t understand. I completed the puzzle because these were the only answers that fit, but I have no idea why they fit.
Y
9A. Robin's green city (7). The answer is LINCOLN. For Robin I thought of Hood, but that's no help. No idea.
13A. One may waltz about in European River (7). The answer is DANCER. Guessing wildly, about = C, European River = ER, but that doesn't explain the DAN. I don't know any rivers that are an anagram of DANCER. Completely stuck.

Normally, even if the clues are rather convoluted, I can see why they give the answers they do, Any help given will be gratefully received. Ta.

Thank you. I obviously need to brush up on my medieval history. And the second one makes perfect sense when you explain it that way. Still learning.
Greatly appreciate the help.

Hi John,

Lincoln green is a colour that was used from the middle ages in the cloth dyeing industry in Lincoln and it was always the colour Robin Hood would wear. This extract is from Wiki:-

"Lincoln green is often associated with Robin Hood and his Merry Men in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire"

"Dane" is the European and R is the "river" and that goes around C for "about"

Thanks. I probably should have known that about Robin Hood, but every day you learn something new doesn't count against your lifespan, so that's good. And I still get caught out trying to use the general term in the clue rather than a specific example of it. Thank goodness for this forum.

Cheers,
John
