Composer turned back by force (4) *R*F

It can only be ORFF but how does it parse?

is the orf from fro backwards? as in "to and fro". however, "turned back seems to be doing double duty.

I suppose "turned" could be the reversal indicator, and "back" for "fro"?

Thanks again, chrise. I have pasted this in from the BRB. So you are correct.

I agree with the earlier comments about the Orff clue. Using turning to mean fro is weak.

Gerba, clubs is just a C in the clue. The definition is the first two words, so you’re looking at c + avenger in a word for accident
