All of your assignments are due in about 3 hours. Oh, sorry, I got mixed up with my online class. Start again. You have about 3 hours left to get in those clues. Judging will take place shortly after 8 PM UK time.

Best of luck to England today. I hope they live up to ChrisE’s expectations. I’m out at lunch right now. Will announce the winner when I get home. I’m sure it will be every bit as exciting as the football.

Then I'm lost. As a typical American I don't pay much attention to soccer anyway, other than the World Cup. I do know that England is favored over Denmark today though.

I'm teasing, mprs - it's the different-shaped ball. You guys aren't that bad at rugby, and are still the reigning Olympic Champions, I think!

Here are the results, as eagerly awaited as the football I'm sure.

First, I generally feel that anagrams are the easy way out, but with so many possibilities for anagrams, there were some great overall clues. Top among these were fieryjack @25 - loved Captain as definition - and mattrom @30 with her brilliant (as always) surface. Also among my favorites were jono @19 and @22 with anagrams plus. As to paul @14 all I can say is ouch. Finally among the runners up is tyke @21 with another great definition for his hidden.

Today's winner is Paul Habershon with the very clever construction and definition:

New World Symphony loses nothing after a mistimed start (7)

I was glad for the hint so that I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out from Dvorak. Beethoven is my favorite composer, although the Pastorale is my favorite of his symphonies.

Congratulations, Paul. Here is your prize, inspired by your clue:

Lest you start thinking of yourself as the King of America though, I give you this cautionary tale:

Finally, because "I like American music best:"
