Hi Geeker

I got 14ac, which gave me another crosser and eventually the penny dropped for 10d. Many thanks. Onwards and upwards. I've started making up some words for the answers. I can't parse my answer for 15d!

I can hardly believe it! I've only got seven left. Most of them are in the north east corner. I read all the thread hours ago, but need some more help if I'm to finish before Montalbano.

5d I have M?????E
6d I have A?????I
9ac I have ??????W

Just one - 6 is hidden backwards.

I looked for a hidden backwards, but failed to spot it.

5: 5-letter word for "spread" (n, slang) around A ("one") + T ("time")

9: defn. "expected", 5-letter anagram of "arose" inside 1-letter abbrevs for "fellow" and "wife"

After getting 6, I was able to fill in the rest of that corner.

I just have two left: 23ac and 25ac. I can think of one word that fits 25ac, but cannot see how it parses.

I had no idea either!

25 is a really tough one. Parses as an anagram of "IT" plus the first letters of 5 words in the clue.
23: defn. "corresponding", 4-letter word for "measure" around anag. of "out".

I managed to get 23ac, but cannot make a word I recognise out of the anagram. Time for Montalbano - I'll have to come back later.
