[Actually, the Epimenides "paradox" (and the Russell one, the barber who shaves everyone who doesn't shave himself) are easily resolved - they are just incorrect statements. "This page is blank" doesn't resolve as easily!]

Evening all . A modest response this week with 21 clues by 11 setters. Many nice touches this week - beat poets alongside disgraceful politicians !
In the end it boiled down to a final 4.
Jono’s #5 with the well hidden etc, aristo’s proud pussy at #17, paul’s #14 referencing the decadence of our ruling “elite” and the plaintive call at the plaintiff in faiton’s #24.

After much deliberation this week’s winner is paul at #14

Crazy Tory ; cage, then section (8)

Well done and here is your prize

The category in the jackpot round was "things" , I just thought it was a bit of a broad category.

How many "things" fit the pattern NE* **** ***** without using letters RSTLNE HMDO ???

Congratulations, paul, and thanks for the shortlisting, bigbad.
Was there ever a game show that didn’t look astoundingly surreal? Imagine if this was picked up somewhere in deep space; it might ensure our destruction.

congrats paul - that clue went right over my head as "section" with that def. was new to me. So, educational as well as clever. Thanks for hosting bbm.
