5 down

I've been stumped by more clues on this one than on any of recent issue.

The answers to two of the three I was stuck on make sense (don't they always!) but 5 down "Doctor gets away with capital (4)" - "RIGA" beats me!

I appreciate that Riga is the capital of Latvia but has no more relevance to the clue (to my tired old brain) than Lima!

Put my little grey cells to rest please!

To RIG something is to doctor it, and A is an abbreviation for away, eg in a soccer fixture list

"doctor" as a verb = RIG + A(way) as in H and A - Home and Away in football

Thanks for that - he's certainly used some obscure ones this week - "SKID" for "small gull" and "China", Cockney rhyming slang for friend.

Hi, I went for LIMA because apparently there's a Dr Lim in a programme called The Good Doctor!
