Well I find references to ASSIL TEETH meaning molars.

Could ASSEL TEETH (anag. THESE TALES) be ASSEL as an alternative spelling?

Safe to say not in Chambers!

"The Dalesman Magazine has a new compiler and the new puzzle is driving me crazy.
Local's slow in finishing - I have L?W??? (if the W is correct)

Closely encountered gob - i have ??S?R

These are the last two in a truly awful puzzle and I am considering cancelling my subscription , not because of the difficulty but there is no subtlety or reason in the structure . As usual any help welcome."

lowsin is a dialect for an act of stopping work (finishing) an anagram of slow in.

Thanks Stevie Gee.
I’m a southerner but if I’d had more time I might have been able to work it out.
