I've almost finished this excellent puzzle but am struggling with -

1a - Artificial intelligence gathers support (6)

If my amended letters are correct I've got TE?LI?

The only word that seems to fit that letter patter is a type of mollusc so it looks I've gone wrong somewhere?

24d - Insert outdated things essentially by hard work (7) - RA?TI?G

1a (door) support is the defn for the original answer ....then you change it...

24d original answer ...5 letter synonym for hard work + in (essentially thINgs) ...then change it

1a original answer is also hidden in the clue

I’ve got a completed grid but am having difficulty parsing 9d ‘gate in the centre spooks ostrich’. I’ve got a word for ostrich but just can’t parse it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Puzzledom, check the definitions on Chambers of gate and you'll see circuit. This should help.

I didn't take my reading glasses with me while I was away for a few days so did this today. A most enjoyable puzzle and a great working of a tried and tested crossword 'convention'.
