(Replying to 'Is the novelty...?')

I think the Z posed difficulty.

A recent addition to the official Scrabble two-letter words was ZA, reportedly short for PIZZA. I don't think crosswords are ready for that one yet.

Well everyone’s a winner this weekend simply for taking part! Tied in third place is Spike with himself @14 and @17.
Second place goes to PaulH @15 with five votes.
First is Tyke @18 with six votes with the rather elegant…

Potter’s craft (8)

Congrats Tyke. Your wizard prizes are (I’ll spare you Harry Potter and ‘Wizzard’) …

Well done, Tyke; I voted myself out of a win there! Spike @14, I thought was a brilliant idea. I would have given it 4 points if slightly adapted to something like 'Comedian allows wife to start unzipping Zulu for spanking' (especially omitting the a before spanking).

Thanks for hosting, jono. Clever of you to find the ZA article. I would never have believed so much could be written about it. Just one factual Scrabble inaccuracy: QI is not the only other 11-point score. ZO has been around for yonks, but now we also have ZE, a woke third person singular pronoun.

I believe Stephen Fry tested ZA in an American restaurant and was met with a blank look. Probably in the wrong state.

Thanks Jono - I enjoyed the clips - I saw The Who in 1970 around the time they recorded the `Live at Leeds` album - they were brilliant!

Thanks for your votes, bad luck Jono - it looks as though forum members have had their jabs and are finally getting their lives back! Personally I think the competitions have helped me keep my sanity, so thanks to all who have contributed - but it may be that the weekend version has run its course? I plan to host a Weekend Pierre Review next week - if it is poorly supported perhaps we should decide to make it the last?
