Mainly enjoyed this, few obscurities (with a dishonourable exception for 'ywis').

Bit puzzled by this:

19a Hairstyle associated with Exmoor, perhaps? It depends (8)
A: ponytail.

I can't see what 'It depends' is doing in the clue.

An old meaning of depend is hang down, which is what a ponytail does, I suppose

I think it refers to the fact that the tail on the pony hangs down.

I am struggling to understand 56 down: Listener a woman will be fond of? (5-4). The answer seems to be “shell-like” (ie she’ll like), but how does that relate to “listener”?

Shell-like is an informal word for ear, listener. It's in Chambers.

Thanks for your reply. I did check Chambers before posting, but did not see this definition. Perhaps we have different editions!

I'm way behind with my jumbos! Was saving this for a rainy day, and boy! Has it been raining!

28d. Bloke touring India with the writer's case (8)

I guessed GENITIVE, as it's a case, but can't parse it. Any ideas?

Looks like GENT (bloke) around I (India) and I’VE (the writer’s, as in ‘the writer has’)
