I missed the e from bete noire. Does anyone know how to type bete with the circumflex above the e?

I don't, but for a workaround you can just type it (sans accent) in to a Google search then just copy and paste an example when it comes up.

If you use Windows you can use the Character Map. It's hidden away so best to search with Windows key + C. On an iPhone just hold the E and a range of accented characters pops. Don't know about other phones.

Bête noir. Holding the letter works on android phones too. Works for çedillas too (:o)
