With the best will in the world I can't make the 13 points - let's call them that - look anything like the phenomenon spelt out by the across clashes (and it's an hobby of mine). Even seen from Australia. And is where the bad lady keeps her dresses a red herring?

As always I am well behind everybody else and still need two answers before embarking on the endgame. 19A - Local chap with tips for ethnic translator (5). I think the answer is a piece of computer equipment. 30D - Occasionally, coach ends up in past form (4). I think the answer is an art form and that this will result in a clash. It is possible the unchecked letter in 19A is the same as the first letter in 30D. Time to take a break from this to refresh both mind and body.

19a yes 3 letters for the chap + EthniC
30d yes reversed letters within the clue...yes that letter is the same

Helps if you choose the right one of the 88 of course. I'm still puzzled by the down clashes. They must mean something - the likelihood of 13 random letters making real words is too small.
