These clues were wonderful. Not a difficult puzzle (one can do it without a dictionary or computer), but dazzling in its way. Thanks so much, syzzie.

Thanks again syzygy, good fun. As aristo say's not too taxing with lots of clues having thematic elements. Although not in this vein, I particularly liked the surface reading of 11a & 9d.
Wordplay in 16d took me back!
