A very easy one today - very little challenge

Good to hear that.

For anyone that doesn't know, there is an http://thespectator.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx">online version of The Spectator - and the crossword is on page 65.

Oddly, the date printed on magazine is 2 days in the future from today. The crossword winners will be selected on 27th September.

Completed at last - made an early mistake of thinking that the "distinctive feature" was words that could be spelt differently, and went completely off on the wrong track!!! Apart from THAT all the clues were very straightforward!

My grid is complete apart from 20d - I can't find anything to fit which has the "distinctive" feature".
I have Athos for the musketeer - where do "breeches" fit in?
And where do the "treats" come into 19d?

Athos: at instead of in, and hos, short for hose. "Treats": an old word for treats, containing m - a touch of magic.
