Maybe ABSOLUTE. Definition is perfect. Abs = abdominal muscles, part of the core, o = central letter of choir, lute = instrument. Alternatively Ab singular + s short for is.

I'm not crazy about the equation of abs with core, unless it's metonymic, but I don't know the puzzle, and it's my best guess.
