Got bogged down with these:-
9A - MI6 statement that's yet to be proven. (6)
I have ---S-S. Is this THESIS?
10D - Exciting quality of diamonds makes for
trouble. (3,5)
I have --T -A-E-. The closest I can get
is HOT WATER but this may well be wrong?
When they intersect as these do, sometimes
each possible answer can render the other one
ineffective!
Also, I couldn't see why 40D, "One who
must live alongside son shunning soap" ,should
be NEIGHBOUR.
Any assistance would be greatly apprec-
iated. Thanks!

40d must be neighbour(s) - to do with the soap Neighbours without the "S"

10D - hot water
