I've seen that answered as Line, hidden in the clue - but it's not a good clue (even for the RTE!).

I have seen it answered as 'sire' but, as with the other suggestions, I am far from convinced.

SIRE =KING=STALLION=running
these clues of four letters with a vowel ,2nd letter and finishing on E are almost impossible
