I've completed this in reasonably good time for a Carte Blanche! One annoying parse for the 3rd across clue. Only one thing fits and I know 'als' is old also/too but where do the first letters come from in the clue?

I'm struggling with down solutions here. Are "Foot bath and a pop, fizzy...etc" and "Press distorted truth on China" both 12-letter anagrams?

App, 'Foot' etc. is (3,4). An anagram in a word for 'sun'
'Press' etc is (7) ...an anagram + abb. for 'China'
