Can't parse 19 a.
Coed hugging bard shut eyes?(8).
? o ? l?d?d.
Looks like collided, but don't understand llid inside coed.

Colluded? That has Dull, drab (bard reversed) inside Coed (hugging coed). Could 'shut eyes' mean colluded, conspired?

This could be abject nonsense!

Thanks, malone, I hadn't spotted drab reversed.

Thanks, Mildred. It's not a crossword I even see, let alone tackle - so have no idea about any style, quirks etc in clues!

I thought you did, Malone The Herald are publishing old puzzles by the late John McKie, aka Myops, but without the famous Wee Stinker t- shirts as prizes. Famous for its quirks!

Thanks, Mildred. No, I see only the clues that appear on here! I had an old friend who loved the Stinker puzzles and was desperate to win a t-shirt - and never did.

I tried it a few times a year or so ago, but I found the mixture of cryptic and non-cryptic clues rather odd.

I suppose the mixture of cryptic and non- cryptic clues was one of the quirks. Pre- Google when it was published on a Monday, one struggled to have it completed in time for submission by Thursday. It seemed harder then, with only Bradford's Xword Dictionary as an aid.

I won nine t-shirts before moving to this address 25 years ago, never one again in my own name. My name? John McKie and I moved to the same street that Myops resided on! No relation either. Small world.

Yes, small world! I was able to use my own name. My brother is Ian and his wife Isobel. They just entered with I as their first names and were coy as to who had won the t- shirt or whether it was a joint effort.
