8 Lama is the monk, the chief one being the Dalai Lama. L can mean pounds, plural.

10 Falter, flag, lose the F, heading/first letter.

I can see the answer, but there's no real wordplay. The order is religious. If you don't know the answer, I'm afraid you are unlikely to guess it!
