I have a full grid that I am perfectly happy with. I also have the four thematic answers and the 11 clues needing the additional thematic letters, but I cannot make any sense at all of the additional letters in the remaining clues. Once again thee PDM is more challenging, for me at least, than the damn crossword itself.

Gitto - it's worth pursuing the added letters to get sense out of them - it's a fairly straightforward explanation and instruction, and quite fun.

I also didn't mind a simpler solve for a change after the last few.

Thanks tatters. Not as daunting as the preamble suggested but I enjoyed it.

All done - but don't see what the title has to do with it? I suppose you fire ***ff? And then first two letters come into play, but I must be missing something...
