the last letter of 12d is also the third letter of 18a

18a looks like "scourge" with "surge" being the "wave" but I'm not sure hoe "house" = 'co'?

12d - Is an anagram/"change of heart" of the middle 5 letters of "forgive"- definition is (astrological) "sign"

24d - L + Ace (one)

I've got 18a and 12d ending in different letters so maybe "scourge" is wrong?

the only other word that will fit is SPLURGE, but I like SCOURGE and I think the explanation you gave for 12d is apt. I tend to agree that is VIRGO (sign)
