Wow! More than happy to find myself in this position, doesn't happen very often. The reason I enter multiple clues is because you are all so damn good that I have to, to stand any chance!

Many thanks to Chrise, Mattrom, Fieryjack, Dorrien, Bbm2, Faiton and Mprs for the votes, greatly appreciated. Also, just as much appreciated are the mentions from, Chrise, Jono and Paul (x2). Thanks to all.

Aristophanes - Thanks for the challenge, it certainly was one! Were you starting to panic?! Also, I appreciate your kind note, gracious as ever. Thanks for my prize, incredible, is all I can say.
I do agree on the "music", though.

Till next week...

Well done, Spike! Thanks for your mention, likewise to FJ and Jono.
Thanks also to our host, Aristo. The scandal was new to me too, although I did (unsuccessfully) try to work out a clue from Barry Goldwater.

Apropos of Buddy’s recent TS Eliot related clue, by chance I came across this reference to “water white” in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
No idea how to make a clue out of it but thought I’d share...

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each
I do not think that they will sing to me
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white

We live near a town with a lot of French-Canadians, among whose quirky expressions (in English) is "side by each" for "side by side." I'm not really poking fun at it; in fact I think it's endearing, and of course acknowledge that anything I attempted to say in French would be atrocious. Anyway, when we hear it we'll often say, "I have heard the mermaids singing, side by each."

Congrats, Spike. Well deserved considering all of your great entries. Thanks for the very tough challenge. I wondered if you were thinking of the 90s when you chose it, but I suspected it was not very well known outside the US, so it would up to me or Buddy to reference it.

Thanks to Buddy and Paul for the votes. Much appreciated, gentlemen.
