Hi all & Happy New Year.

Have just started learning how to do cryptic crosswords and am working my way through the Times quick cryptic crossword book 1. It being quite an old book, I'm not having much luck tracking down explanations for some of the harder ones, wondered if anyone could enlighten me how the cryptic part of the clue below works? I got it via the definition but can't make the second part work.

Clue: "Everything's ready: eg lass mostly prepared (3,7,2)"

Answer: ALL SYSTEMS GO

Many thanks.

"all systems go" in an anagram of "eg lass mostly" - prepared being the anagram indicator

Hi user1984,
Happy new year to you too!
It’s an anagram of ‘eg lass mostly’. ‘Prepared’ is the indicator for the anagram

Of course! Thanks for quick reply, feel a bit of an idiot as should have spotted that but guess that is going to be happening a lot.
