Watching an interesting dispatches programme, the presenter said disinformation at least four times! THERE IS NO SUCH WORD.

Well apparently I am wrong! It is now accepted. Not however in this household. Almost as bad as testament for testimony.

Hasn't the word been around since Stalin? I can't check now, but will later.

This inspired me to look it up. First known usage in 1939 in reference to the Nazis, but became widespread with the KGB.

Alanfi, I'm sure we all have words that we dislike, for various reasons, and would probably never use ourselves. I'd given examples of my pet dislikes... but that would mean using them!
