A pleasant grid fill but the words from the preamble 'as a representation of the eventual outcome' suggest that the title is not entered in a straightforward manner. Am I reading too much into that or am I missing something obvious?

I would say you're reading too much into it. The relevant item wasn't found until the end of the story...

Thank you for that Theragman. I was expecting a more demanding endgame.

That was most enjoyable and not too demanding - just what the doctor ordered:-)

Thanks to Gos.

I am not sure that alwayspuzzled is reading too much into the preamble. The "eventual outcome" is that the item is returned to the place from which it was taken. Also, the fact that only two down entries enter the bottom row makes me think that something other than the title is to be entered there. Having said that, I cannot see what it could be.

I think we have to shade it.

Also , is there any significance to where the circled letters are placed? Am not convinced that it is so straightforward as mentioned above.

I keep going back to this to see if I am missing something. I have tried swapping the first and last rows as the object was restored to somewhere high up (if I remember the story correctly). That produces a lot of non-words, something which is normally mentioned in the preamble. I wonder if cell 5 is significant as it is the centre of the top row and the restored object is placed in the middle of the forehead. Grunger, could you please say why you think the object should be shaded?

As I read it the title must stay in the bottom line but could be modified such that the second word is returned or reversed. Otherwise why use representation It also leads to real words.

The last 4 letters of the work give the "flavour" as per title, and also a synonym for "shade". I have entered the work in the bottom row and shaded to show a relevant word in the pre-amble. This may be doing something unnecessary, but I cant see why we were not just asked to enter the title of the work.
